Info zur Skulptur "St. Ruperth with salt barrel"

Saint Ruperth was born in Worms and died in Worms. But during his lifetime he was the first bishop of Salzburg and the legend has it, that he knocked with his pastoral staff against a mountain and out came a salt spring. He is the Patron Saint of Bad Reichenhall and its riches in salt. The attribute of the saint is a barrel filled with "white gold", as salt was called before. And even today the children of Salzburg enjoy a free day on the 24. of September, when the town celebrates Saint Ruperth.
