The liturgical celebration of the Lord's Supper, which we know today, goes back to the so-called Last Supper. It refers to the evening meal described in Scripture, which Jesus ate together with his disciples before he was betrayed by Judas Iscariot. The Lord's Supper is thus also connected with the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus.
